K2 Internet S.A. – a technological partner of IT Academic Day.
K2 Internet S.A. was a technological partner in the IT Academic Day conference held on 14 November 2007 at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, in hall E1. The conference was organized by Grupa.NET.
Last year’s IT Academic Day was already the third edition of the conference at the Technical University of Łódź. The invited speakers, including K2 representatives: Tymoteusz Chmielewski and Leszek Sikorski, presented the latest IT tools and technologies at the lectures. The conference included competitions with valuable prizes to win. The conference was presided over by Professor Andrzej Materka, Ph.D., D.Sc.
The IT Academic Day is the first joint event of Grupa.Net and K2 Internet S.A. at the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering and marks the beginning of what will be regular co-operation.
“It was a pleasure to do something together. We feel welcome here. We have been invited to co-operate both by the City of Łódź and the representatives of the Technical University of Łódź. Łódź is a big city with enormous potential. Thanks to the excellent Technical University the number of people with a technical university degree is high and hence it is easy to find suitable employees. Our talks with the students of the Technical University show that they need to learn practical skills, e.g. through internship and they are willing to combine studies with gaining professional experience. Therefore we decided to meet their expectations and needs," says Tymoteusz Chmielewski, Vice-President of the Management Board of K2 Internet S.A.
The co-operation between K2 and the Technical University of Łódź includes regular "meetings with a K2 experienced person” during the meetings of Grupa.NET students' association.
Regular meetings of the members are part of the activity of the .NET association. The K2 programmers will occasionally participate in the meetings, sharing their practical knowledge with the students. It is also planned that the most talented members of the Group will be offered the opportunity to undergo paid internship and afterwards start work at K2 Internet S.A., at their Warsaw branch or the newly-established Łódź branch.
The new Łódź branch will deal with technological services, providing international clients with innovative solutions based on the latest technologies. The team of a dozen or so staff is mainly comprised of programmers, particularly students from the Technical University of Łódź. K2 Internet S.A. provides them with the opportunity to gain practical experience and also, by guaranteeing flexible working arrangements, allows them to reconcile their professional development and studies. For young people, work at K2 also provides stable professional development by means of an extensive system of training, including the MCSD / MCTS certification path (trainings and exams as part of work) and the ability to keep up with the latest technologies, e.g. participation in projects of adoption of Microsoft technologies at the earliest stages of development.
“Łódź is perfect to live in. It has potential and energy. Many people will be happy to stay in the city provided that they have potential for development. Our co-operation with K2 may be just this chance to offer prospects for young people. Additionally the possibility to learn from the experience of a company like K2 will be a valuable supplement to the knowledge our students gain during their university classes", says Professor Sławomir Wiak, Ph.D., D.Sc., the Director of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems and the coordinator of Grupa.NET.
K2’s plans include the expansion of the scope of co-operation with the Technical University of Łódź and its students.
